Westlake Tennis & Swim Club
will be hosting the 2008 K-SWISS USTA National
Men’s 45 Hardcourt Championships on June 28 through
July 4.
This is one of the four
National surface championships for this Age group. The Club has
been the site for this Tournament since 1991.
In the Singles Division,
previous champion Vallis Wilder, from Fort Worth, Texas, was
defeated by Polo Cowan of Mill Valley, CA 6-1, 6-2.
Polo Cowan defeated Glenn Errickson 6-3,6-1 to win the event.
In a rematch of the 2007
finals, Vallis Wilder teamed with Mike
Fedderly capturing first in the Doubles competition. Ross Hessler
and Jon Tyrell were finalists.
Many of our Club members
played in the Championships. Louis Lam stayed in the competition
through the Round of 32 after defeating Club member Keith
Glucksman. Other Club players were Duane Hollinger, Dan Burrows,
Mel Sarowitz, Perry Saliano, Cy Nowrasteh, Mitch Turk, Dennis Mestas and Jim Wong.
